Week 12
This week we spent time revising what we have learnt this term, along with playing games to help us revise.
To help with your revision, most importantly, you should be able to identify the difference between short and long vowel sounds, and be able to identify the sounds that we have covered this term. You should also re-read the ORT books that we read this term - The Outing, and The Land of the Dinosaurs.

Week 10
Homework: GTE p.21-22 Presentation from the lessons
Land of the Dinosaurs this week...roarrrrrr. We read the story, wrote our own stories, and made our own hatching dinosaurs. It was fun!
We're getting close to the end of the term and the second assessment. It's going to be most important to understand the vowel sounds that we have covered in this term - the short-U and a wrap-up of all of the short vowels. And also the long-A and long-E sounds. So your child should be able to differentiate between short vowel sounds and long vowel sounds. Remember, long vowels just say the letter's name!

Week 9
Homework: GTE p.26-27 Presentation from the lessons
This week we learned about using commas to separate things when we write sentences.
If you are talking about three or more things in a row, you use commas to keep them from bumping into each other.
Think of a comma like a tiny speed bump for your voice.
When you see a period (.), it’s a stop sign—you take a big breath and stop. But when you see a comma (,), it’s just a little "pause button." It tells you to take a tiny, quick breath before you keep going!

This week we leatned all about the short-U sound.
The short-U sound is like the sound you hear in words such as "up," "cup," and "fun." It sounds a bit like "uh."
Let's try saying it together:
You can think of it as a quick, little sound, not like the long "u" in "unicorn." Can you think of some more words with the short-U sound?
Try to sing the short-U sound from the song below!!
