You can have a look at the photos below to help you in your writing. Bonus - the shark sketching video from last week, too!
Homework is GTE p.29. Please hand it in tomorrow :)

Monday and Tuesday: Today we read Submarine Adventure and talked about what to do for the homework. On GTE p.21, you should use a thesaurus to find three synonyms for each word, and then write them on the lines. Then, make a sentence using any two of the words that you found.
Homework is to complete p.21-22 and hand it in tomorrow. Also, please bring your Submarine Adventure book to class tomorrow.

Week 10

Monday and Tuesday: These two days, we learned a new sound - the "oo" digraph. We read the story Goo, Goo! and we talked about what the different words in the story mean.
Homework is to read the story and do GTE p.14 and 15 and hand it in on Wednesday.

Week 8:

Thursday: In today's lesson, we read Shelly's New Shoes one more time and further discussed the more challenging words from the story.
I am assigning four pages for homework, but I don't want you to hand it in until AFTER the Term Break.
If you don't have your Shelly's New Shoes book with you, you can find it in the file below  👇🏼 For the homework, please note that pages 10-11 might be a bit challenging, but I would like you to try your best to do it on your own. Let's see what we CAN and CAN'T do ourselves. It helps me see what you're good at and what you need to work on, and that helps me teach you better!
Homework is to complete GTE p.10-13 and hand it in on MONDAY, 20/5.

Week 7:

Today we learned about ANTONYMS and got started on the writing on GTE p.27. Remember, antonyms are OPPOSITE WORDS. It's pretty easy and everyone had a very good understanding of the concept.
Homework is to complete GTE p.26-27 and hand it in on Monday. You can have a look at the page below to help guide your writing.

Monday and Tuesday: We've continued to practice reading out loud with The Willow Pattern Plot. We have been focusing on enunciation (readding loud and clear) and I must say, everyone is doing SUCH A GOOD JOB!
Homework is to complete GTE p.19-20

Week 6

Thursday: Today I read the Willow Pattern Plot out loud to the class.

Tuesday: In today's lesson, we learned more about SYNONYMS and learned how to do pages 24 and 25 together in class. Have a look below if you are still confused about synonyms or what to do on the homework.
Homework is to complete GTE pages 24 and 25 and hand it in tomorrow.
Monday: Today is Earth Day, so we talked more about what we can do to help the Earth, and then we made "My Earth Day Pledge" posters. For the poster, students need to write down five things (one on each finger) that they will try to do to help protect the Earth. Let's try this at home!
No homework tonight. Please make sure you have your GT books for tomorrow's lesson :)

Week 5:

Thursday: In today's lesson, we did a bit of pre-learning about SYNONYMS - something that we are going to learn next week in the writing unit. I explained that synonyms are words that are different but have similar meanings, for example: sad, unhappy, and down.
No homework this weekend - but you can play this Baamboozled game to practice synonyms at home: www.baamboozle.com/game/9205
Tuesday: Today we learned all about Earth Day. Did you know that Earth Day is next Monday? Let's think about what we can do to help the Earth!
Homework is to complete GTE p.9 - think of your own idea to help the Earth and write about it!
Monday: Today we learned more about the th sound and we talked about HOMOPHONES. A homophone is when two or more words sound the same, but are spelled differently. The three homphones we focused on today are:
  • their (belongs to them)
  • they're (they are)
  • there (direction)
The class had a very good idea of the difference of these three words, but it's good to make sure that they remember.
Finally, we read the silly poem on GTE p.8 and underlined all of the th words, and then illustrated it.
Homework tonight is to complete pages 7 and 8 in your GTE book and hand it in tomorrow.

Week 4:

Thursday: Today we learned all about CHEESE 🧀🧀🧀🧀🧀 You can watch the videos that we watched in class below.
Homework is to finish GTE p. 5 and bring your 'th' book tomorrow.
Tuesday: We continued with learing the 'ch' sound and worked on p.4 in the GTE book.
Homework tonight is to finish GTE p.4 (you should be done already!)

Week 2:

Monday: Today we read Chimp and Chick's Lunch and talked about some of the new vocabulary from the story. You can have a look at the pictures below if you are still not sure about what some of the words from the story mean. We also talked about the difference between consonant blends and digraphs. Remember - with consonant blends you can hear two sounds - like in the word play. The consonant blend here is 'pl' and you can hear both letter sounds 'p' and 'l' when you read the word - play. But digraphs are different. There are two letters, but when you say them together, you can only hear one sound. For example, the word chimp. The letters 'c' and 'h' come together to make one sound - chimp.
Homework is to complete pages 2 and 3 in your GT book and hand it in tomorrow :)

Week 1:

Thursday: We've only had one lesson this week, and in that lesson, we only had enough time to hand out the new books and talk a little bit about the first phonics sound - ch.

I do want to say AMAZING job on your assessments though! Everyone did such a good job. Thank you students and parents for all the hard work you've put in! Keep it up!
