Week 8: Starting Google Slides about a favorite thing
This week we spent our lesson in the computer room. As students become more familiar with signing into the computer and their Google account, they will be able to spend more time working on their projects. These were the steps that we followed this week, so please remember them and even practice at home:
A very important note!!!
If you have changed your password for your Google account, you MUST either (1) memorize it or (2) write it down somewhere you have it at school.
You need your passwords to do work at school!!!
- Sign in to Windows. Use your sXXXXXX and password for this step.
- Open Chrome. Type in slides.google.com.
- Sign in to your Google account with your school email address and password. [email protected]
- Create a new slide, or click on the one you were working on before.

Week 7: Sharing our "About Me" docs and introducing the next topic - Google Slides
I've been so happy reading your About Me Google Docs! Most of you have done a great job following the formatting that I shared with you, and you are also including lots of interesting information about yourselves!
Over the next few lessons, I will bring you to the computer room to start working on your Google Slides presentations. The topic you choose will be simple - choose one of your favorite things from your About Me homework and make a Google Slides presentation about it.
Remember in my About Me doc, I said that I make the best guacamole? That's the topic that I chose for my presentation. You can have a look at it (even follow the instructions and make guacamole if you want 😁) and see what a Google Slides presentation looks like:

Week 6: About Me (Google Docs)
This week we learned how to create an "About Me" Google Doc. We watched the video (youtu.be/jvV5SS6rP4o) and I walked the class through the process of creating an About Me doc.
Remember to follow the formatting in the example (attached to the assignment in Google Classroom), and include the extra section - "5 Emojis About Me".
You can find the assignment in Google Classroom. It's called "About Me". It's due the day before your next lesson. Have fun with it!

Week 5: Another short week
Unfortunately we missed our Monday and Tuesday classes again this week, so for the Wednesday classes with 4C and 4A, we just shared some student work from last week's assignment. I also let students share anything that they learned when they were exploring Google Docs for the homework. Next week we will go more in-depth with Google Docs. I will teach the classes how to do some of the functions and shortcuts that are necessary for word processing. In the meantime, you can take a look at these videos to prepare for next week:

Week 3: The simplest of simple
This week our lesson was simple but necessary. We went to the computer room and learned how to log in and log out of the computers 😂
A few important things that we need to remember for the TE lessons:
Some safety tips for going online:
A few important things that we need to remember for the TE lessons:
- When you hear my voice, you should stop talking and look at me. There are a lot of important instructions that I will ask you to follow in our lessons, so it's imperative that you listen to me so I don't need to repeat myself. Anyway, this is just a reminder - you all did a very good job following my instructions this week!
- Remember to log in with your 6-digit number (e.g., s123456) and class and student number for your password - all lowercase letters.
- Always log out from your computer before you leave the computer room!

Week 2: Paper airplanes (short week)
Howdy, G4!
Since this week is a short week, I don't want to get too far ahead of the Monday and Tuesday classes (4B, 4D, and 4E), so what we're going to do is to create one of the most simple technologies with a single piece of paper. That's right, we're going to make paper airplaines (actually paper bats 🦇 that can really flap their wings)!
Do you remember our discussion last week about what technology is? You came up with some fantastic ideas, and we also learned that technologies are no only things that we can plug in, but also things like tables, chairs, Lego, and the pipes that carry water to our houses.
So this week I want to share a fun paper airplane (🦇) project with you and I want you to see how well you can create this technology. You can even try to modify it to make it fly better. Modify means making changes to something. We often modify things to make them work better.
So let's get started! Watch the YouTube video below and follow the steps carefully. If you succeed, then your paper bat should be able to fly really well!

Week 1: Introduction to G4 TE
Welcome to the new school year and the new campus, grade 4!
This is my website. You can come here to find recaps of each week's lessons. You can also download PowerPoints and watch videos that I might have shared in a lesson.
In this week's lesson, we had a short introduction to what we will be doing in TE this year. We also talked about what YOU think technology is and then we watched a video about it. Below you can find the ideas that each class brainstormed in our lessons - BRILLIANT! You can also find this week's PowerPoint to download, and watch the video that we watched in class this week.
Next week is a short week and I will only have lessons with the Wednesday classes, so I will treat Wednesday's classes as "extra" lessons and we will do something fun. Don't worry though, I'll make sure that the Monday and Tuesday classes don't miss out on anything, and we will resume our normal lessons in week 3.
Have a wonderful long weekend and I will see you all again next week!
